Bio

Sykes is an Oldcastle, ON native and began with the Men’s Basketball program as an Assistant Coach in the 2017-18 season.  He assumed his current post as Co-Head Coach prior to the 2018-19 season helping the Saints to the playoffs in each of his two years in addition to a trip to the OCAA Provincial Championship tournament in 2020.  Sykes serves as the main contact for recruiting in addition to taking a lead role in video analysis with the Saints Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff.  

Sykes graduated from St. Clair’s Sport and Recreation Management program and played four seasons of varsity baseball for the Saints.  A mainstay at the shortstop position he helped the Saints to 106 wins with four championship seasons that included a CIBA National Championship in 2012 and was recognized as the Saints Rookie of the Year.   He was also part of three OCAA Gold Medals (2013, 2015 & 2016) and an OUA/OCAA Championship in 2013.

Sykes is a St. Thomas of Villanova High School product participating in multiple sports including baseball (4 years), basketball (3 years), and hockey (2 years).  While playing for the Tecumseh Thunder baseball club program he won a Junior National Championship in 2013 and a Canadian title as a Senior player in 2016. 

Sykes is also a staff member with the St. Clair Green Giants Summer Collegiate program working as one of the Directors of Team Operations.
