Men’s Basketball 12-3 After Lopsided Win over Canadore

Windsor, ON – After a lopsided 100-55 win over Canadore College (North Bay) Saturday night at the SportsPlex the First-Place St. Clair College Men's Basketball team moved their record to 12-3 and with three games remaining in their regular season schedule are eyeing their second consecutive OCAA West Division crown.

The Saints shot nearly 61% from the field in the opening frame and quickly built a 34-21 lead heading to the second quarter.  St. Clair then turned up the defensive pressure holding Canadore to just a pair of field goals and eight points which resulted in a 56-29 halftime advantage for the Saints.  The outcome was not in doubt the remainder of the contest and more easy baskets followed for St. Clair as they worked their way towards 18 steals aided by 31 Panther turnovers.  Canadore managed only 26 second half points and shot a paltry 31% from the field overall in the game.

The Saints made 12 shots from distance and recorded 46 points off Canadore's miscues while topping them 39-13 in bench scoring.

Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON) had a game high 20 points for St. Clair to go with 6 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.  Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) scored 15 points while adding 6 rebounds as teammates Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON) and Galdo Tutu (Windsor, ON) each chipped in with 10 points for the Saints.

The St. Clair Men host Niagara College (Welland) on Sunday which tips at 3:00pm in the SportsPlex.
