Men’s Basketball Race Through North Bay

North Bay, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team visited North Bay on Saturday and came away with a 104-70 win over Canadore College in OCAA regular season play.  The Saints now have a 7-1 record atop the West Division standings with two games remaining this semester before the holiday break.

St. Clair wasted no time taking a 29-19 lead after the opening quarter and were able to extend their advantage to 54-34 by halftime.  A low scoring third quarter saw the Saints hold the home team to just 13 points as they increased their lead to 72-47 entering the final frame.  But a high scoring fourth saw St. Clair put up 32 points down the stretch as the playing time was spread around.

The Saints earned the victory thanks to a major difference in shooting percentage converting nearly 49% while holding Canadore to just 31.5% in the game.   St. Clair also made 14 triples (42.1%) and only gave up 7 (22.6%) from beyond the arc.  Starter production was not a factor as the Saints outscored Canadore 64-17 off the bench.

Galdo Tutu (Windsor, ON) led the St. Clair bench brigade scoring a game high 21 points including three long balls while adding 7 rebounds and 3 assists.  Glynn Willis-Paris (Detroit, MI/Kennedy) netted 12 points all coming by way of 3-pointers while teammate Tim Steward (Detroit, MI) made four field goals from inside the line to go with 3-of-4 shooting from the charity stripe that totaled 11 points.  Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) was the lone Saints' starter in double figures scoring 10 points and collected 7 rebounds.

The St. Clair Men finish their first half schedule this coming weekend at Niagara College (Welland) on Friday followed by a trip to Mohawk College (Hamilton) on Saturday.
