Men’s Basketball Outrun Lambton

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team ran their record to 6-1 after a dominant 110-67 win over Lambton College (Sarnia) Wednesday night at the SportsPlex keeping themselves tied at the top of the OCAA's West Division with Mohawk College (Hamilton).

The teams played close in the opening minutes before St. Clair asserted themselves led by Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON) who came off the bench to score 15 points including three triples in the last half of the first quarter staking the Saints to a 33-17 lead.  Lambton attempted to make some inroads before half, but St. Clair still held a 55-36 advantage entering the intermission.  The Saints held the visitors to just 14 points and 26% shooting for an 85-50 lead after the third quarter which made the final frame less compelling.

St. Clair's quick offense allowed them to outscore Lambton 48-30 in the paint, but they were consistently making long balls (15-for-40 37.5%) all game to keep the Lions out of sorts.  The Saints proved their depth in the contest and outdid Lambton 61-21 in reserve points.

Vincent-Simon finished with a game-high 28 points and pulled down 7 rebounds for St. Clair who led five Saints in double figures.  Andrew Loyuk (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) fed his teammates for 8 assists but scored 15 points including three triples.  Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) scored 13 points to go with 5 rebounds while Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) netted 11 points and hauled in 6 rebounds but protected the rim with 3 blocked shots.  Hanani Ujullu (Kitchener, ON) chipped in with 10 points off the bench for the Saints.

The St. Clair Men travel to North Bay this weekend to face Canadore College on Saturday which tips at 1:00pm.
