Men’s Basketball Rout Fanshawe in London

London, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team moved their record to 3-0 Friday night after routing Fanshawe College by a score of 96-49 at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre in London.

The game was tied 10-10 in the early stages when the Saints took on some early foul trouble allowing Fanshawe to capitalize and take a 6-point lead.  St. Clair quickly answered closing the first quarter up 17-16 and carried that momentum into the second where they scored 29 points before the half while limiting the home team to just 8 points with some stifling defense.  The Saints ran to the locker room up 46-24 after a buzzer beater from beyond half court by Andrew Loyuk (Windsor, ON/Kennedy).  Fanshawe could not shrink the deficit in the third quarter and St. Clair held a 66-41 heading to the final frame.  A lopsided fourth (30-8) allowed the Saints to spread around the playing time down the stretch.

St. Clair held Fanshawe to just 24% shooting from the floor and only 2 triples while making 13 of their own.  The Saints forced 26 Fanshawe turnovers and scored 33 points off those changes in possession.  St. Clair also had 36 points in the paint and 18 second chance tallies.

Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON) scored a game high 21 points and added 7 rebounds for St. Clair.  Darnelle Peddie (Pickering, ON) notched 16 points to go with 6 rebounds and 3 steals while former Falcon Hanani Ujullu (Kitchener, ON) nearly had a double-double for the Saints off the bench with 14 points and 9 rebounds.  Loyuk finished with 12 points and 6 assists and St. Clair's Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) also reached double figures with 10 points narrowly missing a double-double after snaring 9 rebounds.

The St. Clair Men visit Lambton College (Sarnia) on Saturday in their next West Division matchup.
