St. Clair Men’s Basketball Eyeing OCAA Podium

Etobicoke, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team (9-2) is in search of its first OCAA medal since 2006 and will get their chance in the Final Four tournament being hosted by Humber College in Etobicoke.  The Saints match-up with Redeemer University College (Ancaster) in the provincial semi-finals on Wednesday at 8:00pm.

Redeemer finished 4th in the West Division with a 5-4 record but owns a regular season win at St. Clair that went to overtime and finished with a 103-101 score.  The Royals beat Niagara College (Welland) 65-62 in the divisional round and then upset George Brown in Toronto 91-87 who was the East top seed in the ¼ finals so they could advance to the Final Four.

Redeemer has a pair of West Division 2nd Team All-Star guard selections that the Saints will have to contend with in 5th year 6'0" Foster Brown (Stoney Creek, ON) and rookie 5'9" Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY).  Brinkley leads the team at 18.2 points per game (OCAA 13th) while Brown is a determined defender who contributes 14.1 points per game. The Royals are the 7th leading OCAA team in scoring at 86.4 points per game.

St. Clair put their OCAA 2nd rated offense (95.2 ppg) on display in a 116-92 divisional playoff win over Sheridan College (Brampton) and then a 100-75 victory over Algonquin College (Ottawa) in the ¼ finals to advance to the Final Four.

David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, Michigan) is now a 3-time OCAA West Division All-Star selection in addition to a newly minted CCAA All-Canadian Award and leads St. Clair in scoring at 21.8 points per game (OCAA 7th).  Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) was named a 2nd Team West Division All-Star for St. Clair and averages 14.1 points per game as does Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON).  Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) was named the West Division's Sixth Man of the Year and came off the bench to lead the team in rebounding (8.3 per game) to go with 13.1 ppg for the Saints.  The St. Clair Men are currently ranked 2nd in the OCAA and 15th nationally.
