Saints Host Algonquin in Men’s Basketball ¼ Final Playoff

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team (8-2) is set to host Algonquin College (Ottawa) on Saturday at 3:00pm in a ¼ final playoff game at the SportsPlex.  Algonquin (7-2) is the East Division's 3rd seed and ranked #5 in the OCAA's most recent poll. 

Algonquin features a pair of 20+ averages including the province's 5th leading scorer in 3rd year 6'2" forward Zerious Loney (Ottawa, ON) who puts up 23.6 per game and tops the Wolves at 6.8 rebounds per contest.  3rd year 5'10" guard Simon Desta (Ottawa, ON) clocks in at 20.0 points per game to go with 2.3 assists with 6'1" rookie guard Jessner Thelemaque (Ottawa, ON) rounding out the double-digit scorers at 10.4 per game while leading the team with 2.5 assists per game.  Algonquin advanced past their East Divisional playoff game on Wednesday with a 65-59 win over Seneca. 

St. Clair put their OCAA 2nd rated offense (95.2 ppg) on display Wednesday with a 116-92 win over Sheridan to qualify for this ¼ final.  David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, Michigan) is a 2-time OCAA All-Star selection and leads the St. Clair attack scoring at 21.8 points per game (OCAA 7th).  Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) and Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON) each average 14.1 points per game with Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) coming off the bench to lead the team in rebounding (8.3 per game) to go with 13.1 ppg for the Saints.  The St. Clair Men are currently ranked 2nd in the OCAA and 15th nationally. 

The winner of Saturday's matchup will advance to the OCAA Final Four Provincial Championship March 16-17.
