Golf Teams Off to Slow Start

The St. Clair College men's and women's varsity golf teams started their season this past Friday hosting and taking part in the St. Clair College Invitational at Roseland Golf Club in Windsor. The field included 12 men's teams and 6 women's teams. 57 male golfers and 18 female golfers took part in the first OCAA golf event of the season.

The men's team got off to tough start finishing in 9th place with a team score of 336. For the men, five golfers play with the best four scores counting. Liam Lavin (Windsor; Sandwich Secondary) led the way for the Saints shooting a 79. The Fanshawe College men won the team event with a score of 288.

The women's team finished the event in 3rd place with a team score of 174. For the women, three golfers can play with the best two scores counting. Shannon Coffey (Windsor; FJ Brennan) had a solid day shooting an 84 finishing in 7th place individually. The Humber College women won the team event with a score of 149.

The Saints are next in action at the Georgian College Invitational at Heritage Hills Golf Club on Thursday, September 22. The OCAA Championship is being hosted by Niagara College in Niagara Falls at Legends Golf Club from October 3-5.
