Real, Claydon Named Saints Athletes of the Week

Athlete of the week honours for Week 1 of the 2021-22 season are going to Women’s Softball player Amy Claydon and Men’s Baseball player Henry Real. Both athletes were instrumental in the early-season success of their teams with Claydon leading the softball team to a 6-0 weekend and Real helping the Saints baseball team to a 2-0 night at Fanshawe.

Claydon (Cambridge, ON) was dominant on both sides of the field, leading her team in hits, RBIs and doubles while starting 3 games and earning two wins as a pitcher. Claydon finished the 6-game weekend with 14 hits and 16 RBIs while batting .667. On the pitching side, she struck out 15 batters in a combined 10 innings of work.

Real (Panama City, Panama) came out hot in his Saints debut, going 2-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBIs and 2 doubles in game 1 of the doubleheader. He followed that performance with a hit, a run, 3 RBIs and a double in game 2 to bring the Saints to 2-0 on the season.
