St. Clair Women's Softball Nearing Perfection

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team (16-0) are just two games away from a perfect OCAA regular season record after sweeping a doubleheader from Mohawk College (Hamilton) Sunday afternoon at the SportsPark diamond by scores of 11-0 and 12-0 with both wins coming by way of a 5-inning mercy. 

Amy Claydon (Cambridge, ON) and Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) each had two hits and three RBI's for St. Clair in the opening game with Murphy scoring four runs including one by way of an inside the park homer.  Claydon pitched three innings for the win giving up just one hit and two walks to go with five strikeouts. Allison Dufour (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) cleaned up the final two innings allowing just one hit also.

In game two Riley Csabai (LaSalle, ON/Holy Names) led the Saints with three hits including two doubles, two RBI's and scored twice. Claydon crushed a home run off the foul pole as part of her 2-hit and 3-RBI game.  Dufour picked up her fourth pitching win of the season with three innings of no-hit work and added a strikeout.  She helped her cause with a pair of hits, scored twice with an RBI as did shortstop Murphy.  Rya Cowan (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) pitched the final two innings surrendering just two hits while striking out two batters.   

St. Clair is heading west Thanksgiving weekend to the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association National Championship tournament hosted by the University of British Colombia-Okanagan (Kelowna) being played Oct. 8-10.  The 6-team field features host UBC-Okanagan (BC), University of Calgary (AB), Humber College (ON), University of Ottawa (ON) and the University of Regina (SK).
