St. Clair Fratmen Football Start 2021 Campaign with Lopsided Win

Etobicoke, ON – The St. Clair College Fratmen started their 2021 season with a lopsided 63-1 victory over the GTA Grizzlies on Sunday in Etobicoke.

For the first time ever the Fratmen donned the green and gold colours representing St. Clair College while starting their season in grand fashion.  27 first quarter points followed by another 21 in the second quarter had the Fratmen ahead 48-0 by the halftime intermission.  With the result in hand, St. Clair was able to focus on the ground game in the second half and spread the playing time around.

OFC Offensive Player of the Week Jacob Savoni (Amherstburg, ON) rushed for 100 yards on 12 carries and added three majors in the process.  Running back Kian Voakes (Windsor, ON) followed with 50 yards on just 4 carries while Enzey Youyoute (Niagara Falls, ON) had a touchdown included with his 32 total yards.  Quarterback Michael Beale (LaSalle, ON) distributed 10 completions in 14 attempts for 156 yards.  2019 CJFL All-Canadian receiver Cody Holmes (Windsor, ON) needed just 4 catches to gain 100 yards including a 63-yard pass as part of his two touchdowns.  Jared Hayes-Williams (Windsor, ON) hauled in three passes for 36 yards but two of his catches went for touchdowns.  Dante Lewis (Windsor, ON) helped the Fratmen cause in the second half with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

OFC and CJFL Special Teams Player of the Week honours were given to Jake Holloway (Franklin, Tennessee) who handles the kicking and punting duties for the Fratmen.  He averaged 63.3 gross yards on his nine kickoffs four of which resulted in rouge points for St. Clair.  Holloway averaged 49 yards on his two punts and helped his coverage with a special team’s tackle in addition to converting on all eight of the Fratmen touchdowns.

The Fratmen will enjoy a bye week on the schedule but come home Sep. 11th versus the defending OFC Champion London Beefeaters.  This will be the first ever game to be played at the newly constructed Acumen Stadium which is part of St. Clair College’s campus SportsPark.  Kickoff is slated for 8:00pm and ticket details for opening night are coming soon.
