Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball got back on track with a 100-89 victory over Sheridan College (Brampton) at the SportsPlex Sunday afternoon.  The Saints are now 4-1 and tied for first place in the win column with four games remaining on their West Division schedule.

Sheridan jumped out to the early lead (18-8) in this contest with 3:36 left in the first quarter and forced St. Clair to play catch-up.  The Saints did just that and used a pair of runs to overtake the visitors before Sheridan used a late basket to head to the second quarter up 23-22.  The teams played see-saw over the next ten minutes until St. Clair took a 47-44 lead into to the halftime break.  The third quarter saw Sheridan inch back in front before the Saints attempted to seize control with a 9-0 run for a 61-53 advantage.  But Sheridan answered to tie it up 61-61 cueing up yet another 9-0 run from St. Clair that eventually resulted in a 73-66 lead entering the fourth quarter.  The Saints never looked back from that point and were able to build up to the final score.  In all there were 13 lead changes in the game and the score was tied on 4 occasions.

The game was riddled with fouls (52) and free throw attempts (66) along with 53 turnovers between the teams.  Sheridan made an impressive 83% (30-36) from the charity stripe while the Saints managed a respectable 70% (21-30).  Although St. Clair only made seven triples in the game, they were able to shoot a solid 50% from the field and outscored Sheridan 46-28 in the paint and 41-6 in points off the bench.

3rd year guard Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) made the most of a starting role and led the Saints in scoring with 20 points to go with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.  St. Clair rookie guard Ardell Scott-Jackson (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) came off the bench to score 18 points in addition to 6 boards with 5th year guard David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, Michigan) contributing 14 points while adding 3 rebounds and 3 assists.  3rd year forward Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON) filled the stat line with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the Saints.  St. Clair 2nd year transfer forward Alberto Lopez (Barrie, ON) also reached double figures with 13 points to go with 6 rebounds in his best performance of the season.
