Saints Men’s Basketball Top Fanshawe in London

London, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team outpaced Fanshawe College in London Tuesday night winning by a score of 98-90 and now hold a 3-0 record atop the OCAA's West Division.  The St. Clair Men remain ranked #13 nationally and sit at #2 in the first OCAA provincial poll.  

Fanshawe was better out of the gate and held a 10-point lead (23-13) and were up 23-17 heading to the second quarter.  But St. Clair shot the ball extremely well (67%) before the half for a slight 50-49 by the intermission.  The Saints were strong in the third quarter also pushing their advantage to as much as 15 points (72-54) with a few minutes left in the frame and settled for a 74-64 lead headed to the fourth.  St. Clair didn't allow Fanshawe closer than six points down the stretch though. 

David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, Michigan) led the Saints in scoring again with 22 points and added 8 rebounds but was joined in double figures by four teammates.  Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) came off the bench to hit five triples on his way to 21 points to go with 3 rebounds and a blocked shot for St. Clair.  Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON) registered 19 points adding 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks.  Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) had 14 points and 4 assists while Miles Hall (Toronto, ON) chipped in with 12 points and 5 assists off the bench for St. Clair.   

St. Clair overcame a 49-38 deficit on the glass by scoring 33 points off 19 Fanshawe turnovers.  But a decided difference in bench scoring (34-6) was a testament to the Saints' depth. 

Fanshawe's Aidan Whalen (Cambridge, ON) scored 31 points and added 11 rebounds in a losing cause. 

A full weekend sees the St. Clair Men host #4 nationally ranked Humber College (Etobicoke) at 3:00pm on Saturday and #15 ranked Sheridan College (Brampton) on Sunday at 3:00pm.
