St. Clair Women's Softball 8-0 After Two Wins at Home

Windsor, ON – St. Clair College Women's Softball team moved their OCAA leading record to 8-0 after a pair of wins Friday at the SportsPark diamond defeating Fanshawe College (London) 11-0 in a mercy shortened six innings and then capping the night with a 10-1 victory over Conestoga College (Kitchener).     

The Saints started the day strong with four runs in the opening frame and added two runs in the 2nd inning. After scoring a single in the 4th inning the Saints used a 4-run 6th to close out the game that included back-to-back home runs which were the first for St. Clair over the fence at the new diamond.  Pitcher/1B Amy Claydon (Cambridge, ON) collected the 1st round tripper for St. Clair clearing the right field fence and then catcher Julia Brusseau (Lakeshore, ON/St. Anne) deposited one over the left field fence.

Brusseau hit for the cycle in the game to go with four RBI's and scored a pair of runs.  Rya Cowan (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) had her first three hit game of the season and drove in three runs.  Claydon finished with two hits and collected the win with four scoreless innings of work surrendering just two hits while striking out six Fanshawe batters.  Allison Dufour (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) struck out two in her two scoreless innings.

In the Conestoga win St. Clair put up two runs in the 1st inning with Conestoga answering with their lone run in the 2nd.  The Saints could not scratch the scoreboard again until they notched four runs in both the 5th and 6th innings. 

Brusseau had the big hit in the 5th inning to blow the game wide open when she scored three runs on a triple.  She finished with two hits on the night and scored a run.  Saints starter Cowan won her third game of the season giving up a run over her five innings of work and struck out two batters.  Dufour closed out the game again with two hitless and scoreless innings to go with a pair of strikeouts adding a walk. 

St. Clair gets on the bus Sunday for a doubleheader back in Kitchener against Conestoga College with game times of 1:00 and 3:00pm at Budd Park.
