Men’s Baseball Sweep George Brown

Mississauga, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team swept a doubleheader from George Brown College (Toronto) at Lisgar Fields in Mississauga Sunday by scores of 11-1 and 19-0 with both games ending in mercy shortened fashion.  The Saints are now off to a 5-0 start to their OCAA season.

In the opening game Colin Robinson (Windsor, ON/Kennedy), Brendan Renaud (Amherstburg, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) and Carter Reh (Harrow, ON/Kingsville) each homered for St. Clair providing much of the lift needed for starter Aden Ryan (Tecumseh, ON/St. Anne) who went the six-inning distance spreading out six hits while striking out seven batters with just one run against.

A 9-run first inning in the second game effectively ended any hopes of George Brown staying in the contest which allowed Saints rookie starter Cameron O'Reilly (Moose Jaw, SK) to cruise to a 5-inning victory.  O'Reilly gave up just one hit while striking out three and walking two while facing just 18 batters in his five innings of work.  St. Clair catcher Henry Real (Panama City, Panama) had a 4-hit game including two doubles and a whopping six RBI's.  Hunter Appleyard (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) reached base four times in the game including three walks but only passed through them briefly in his final plate appearance after clubbing a 3-run homer in the top of the 5th inning which accounted for three of his four RBI's.

The Saints come home to host their league openers Friday night when Centennial College (Scarborough) visits Lacasse Park for a doubleheader with game times of 6:00 and 8:00pm.  Durham College (Oshawa) will also be in town Saturday for a doubleheader with game times of 1:00 and 3:00pm.
